Case: The Gang

Project Type: Product Design

A small toy company in mid Sweden got the idea of re-skinning the old classic hockey game with new characters and new settings, as a complement to their existing line of toys. Artist Krister Karlsson, now at Modesty Creative Agency, designed and made prototypes for this project.

Challenge

What would be an appealing design for the target group in mind and what materials would endure the constant beating of the players characters? The manufacturing process were done by hand, so no mold restrictions were an issue.

Solution

Because of the manufacturing method the figures had to be quite sparse from details and in general be fairly sturdy to avoid breaking easily. Strong influences were taken from comics, especially Calvin and Hobbes, when it comes to the appearance.

Result

These figures generated a lot of attention from families and children in stores and on fairs, when displayed.
