So4it

Project Type: Graphic profile, website

When So4it decided to expand they needed a graphic profile reflecting their ideology and displaying their level of expertise and experience. A touch of modesty if you will. Together we created an appealing and accessible website where visitors easily find relevant information

Challenge

The main objective was visualizing the strength of design, strategy and technology in harmony. That is So4it's ideology, or maybe philosophy, which is present in all their work. Since the company delivers complete solutions their clients are everything from telecommunication companies to fashion retail chains, so we needed to speak in a graphic language anyone can understand.

Solution

With playfulness in color and style we created a conscious contrast to the typical technical or strategic company's formal business aesthetics.?The brightness of the employees and their work is depicted by the brightness in color. We took the O in So4it and sculpted it to a glossy ball constituting the company's core containing the essence. Now all we had to do was shake the ball and let the essence cook for a while, then open it and pick up whatever aspect or element we wanted ready to display.

Result

The site is being released at the time of writing and the new business cards have already started to spread across Europe. So4it is one of the rare flowers that somehow manage to bloom in this financial dry period, and we feel our work has added some beauty to its petals and sweetness to its nectar. Thus attracting more bees, giving life to other flowers around it and slowly returning prosperity to the region. In fact, Modesty is currently opening an office in Malmoe in the south of Sweden.

Eleanor

Project Type: Automotive Design

The Thalon group undertook an extremely exciting project together with artist Krister Karlsson, now at Modesty. The aim was to reinstall the legendary 'Eleanor' from 'Gone in 60 Seconds' and adapt the jaw dropping design to the new model of Fords Mustang car.

Challenge

Living up to the expectation and standard of such a legend is no easy feat. The original car from 1967 has a sleeker body, whereas the new version from 2005 is more sturdy and robust in its appearance. This had to be taken into account at the same time as it was crucial to stay true to the original design ideas.

Solution

The combined understanding in everyones mind of how the final car was going to look like was achieved by detailed 3d renderings of the new design. Equipped with extremely low end tools and a great deal of inventiveness and imagination the project was completed in four months at an exceptionally low cost.

Result

The appreciation from the crowd and public reached no end at the shows, fairs and articles it appeared in. Orders have exceeded everyones expectations.

Fish 'n' Chips

Project type: Poker website

The new poker site 'Fish and chips' needed mascots to liven up their site and to fit with their theme.

Challenge

The client wanted one main character plus two sidekicks and a shark. The shark was important since that's a common term in poker. With reference to Pixars 'Finding Nemo' they described the look they wanted. Achieving this for four characters within the set budget was indeed a challenge.

Solution

Diving straight into the modeling while designing as we went along was a part of the solution. Also, making a solid base model that could be tweaked into three different fishes without spending too much time was another key factor.

Result

The site really took off with the new and lively characters. The main mascot created was later used for print on poker tables and fairs as well to enhance and strengthen the brand.

Illustration

Project Type: Web, Print, Traditional

Imagine a world without pictures. That thought seems very dull and alien indeed. Grey, plain, flat, empty... But Modesty help contributing to a more vibrant and lush world with our creative heroes high on imagination and equipped with the latest brushes the market provides. And we don't even wear capes.

Perfect Pictures

There are many storms to endure, oceans to cross and plagues to cure in order to reach the perfect image. However, we have the map, hiking boots from CAT and a backpack filled with experience and knowledge about composition, medium requirements, coloring, readability and an extra super sized kit of pure passion. Our trip has taken us to many different lands to explore and conquer, such as - pencil drawings, oil paintings, pixelated icons and 3D animations.

Cornelia

Project Type: Set Design

Modesty was approached by Swedish performer and singer 'Cornelia'. She needed someone to design and produce her set design for a show here in central Stockholm.

Challenge

As Cornelia's music is of an electronic nature, a futuristic theme seemed the most appropriate choice. She was very open minded, but she had some rough ideas. With her ideas as a base, we sat down and discussed what could be done with the budget and time that were at hand. As Cornelia is quite a fan of the movie 'Be kind rewind' and how they solve their special effects, she was no stranger to a low-tech approach to work with a futuristic theme.

Solution

After elaborating a bit on robots and lasers, we settled for simple spinning prisms with lasers refracting through them in conjunction with a projected animation that's mimicking the effect the lasers produce. As a contrast to this hi-tech feeling we created an organic scenery of butterflies that would look a bit like paper cut outs, similar to what you'll find in fold up books. While creating a very interesting and beautiful addition to the whole set, they also needed to be mobile with modest efforts for future shows, making this mobile solution perfect.

Production

The butterflies and the deer were simply sawed out of thin wooden sheets, painted in white and then decals made of plastic foil were mounted on the front. Photoshop was used for making the decal design. The feet were made from black painted wooden beams with a slice in them. Very cost efficient and quickly made. For the animation a bit of research had to be made before we found a tool that made exactly what we wanted. A loop was made out of a 4500 frames sequence which was projected on a screen behind Cornelia on stage.
